Summer Discovery at Florence, Italy offers students the opportunity to explore Florence, its surrounding cities, and participate in a wide array of academic course and activities. Summer Discovery students study at the renowned Instituto Lorenzo de’Medici. Several of the finest universities in the USA, use the Instituto Lorenzo de’Medici for their accredited study abroad programs in Italy. Established in 1973, Lorenzo de’Medici offers students opportunities to study in Florence with international university students. Lorenzo de’Medici is situated in the heart of Florence in the city’s historical centre. The main building, situated on Via Faenza, dates back to the 13th century. Rich in medieval frescoes and sculpture, it has been beautifully restored and updated. In addition, Summer Discovery students will have the opportunity to study in some of Florence’s other historical buildings. All classrooms/studios are air-conditioned. Students have access to computers with high speed internet access at Instituto Lorenzo de’ Medici.
Florence is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Everywhere you look, you are surrounded by history, architecture, beauty and friendliness; from the picturesque views from Piazzale Michelangelo to the magnificent Il Duomo. Located in the heart of Tuscany, Florence is surrounded by the gorgeous hills of the Chianti wine region, historic and hip towns of the Tuscan countryside and is an easy drive of sun-drenched Mediterranean beaches. Students will live in the beautiful, 3 star Grand Hotel Mediterraneo. In addition to exploring Florence and its many activities, students will also participate in a number of excursions and activities including the Ponte Vechhio, Lungarno Beach, Boboli Gardens, Il Duomo Cathedral, a visit to the Statue of David, and weekend trips to Pisa and Lucca, Siena, Rome, Venice, and much more.
