Description:
•Safe •Fun •Challenging - ORME RANCH CAMP: “Ride The Best of the West!”
Horse back riding and Teen Travel is what we do! This oasis-like setting is nestled within a 26,000 acre working cattle ranch only 1hr North of Phoenix (a lot cooler!). Unmatched facilites include modern health center, dorm-like bunkhouses with bathrooms, extensive equestrian facilities, olympic pool, athletic fields, gymnasium, beautiful dining hall (unlike any other), art studios, and much more!
- Primarily a horsebackriding, equestrian camp in Session 1, if your camper has never been on a horse, they’ll learn to groom, saddle and ride “from the hoof up.”
- Session 2 offers a choice of our Teen Travel: Southwest Travel Caravan including a stay at The Grand Canyon or staying on campus for our Intensified Horsemanship program including a ride to a neighboring ranch and a cattle round up!
- Teen travel offers incredible tours of the sights of the southwest. Traveling in air conditioned vehicles our campers move locations every few days to experience as much as possible. Campers are divided into crews which work together to set up camp, cook, clean up, and set up camp fires for a sense of purpose, belonging and community. Most caravan campers return year after year for this experience! Travel locations vary from year to year.
- For horse lovers, if your camper already rides, they’ll improve their skills with fun choices like roping, barrel racing, pole bending, jumping, & more!
- Regardless of your child’s riding level or interest, our CHA certified instructors offer superior instruction in both Western and English riding disciplines.
When not in the saddle, your camper chooses from a wide variety of activities:
- Swimming,
- Ceramics
- Leathercraft
- Batik
- Native American Art
- Archery
- Riflery
- Swimming
- Desert Survival
- AND MUCH MORE!
Optional academics (through The Orme School of Arizona) are also available while still enjoying the fun of summer. Established by one of Arizona’s pioneer families in 1929, Orme is proudly accredited by the American Camp Association. Two to four week session begin June 27th. Each session features a special theme in addition to the regular horsemanship and other activities listed above. Visit our website for more details! Accepting applications now!
